Assistant Secretary, Democratic Party of Denver

 
Title:   Assistant Secretary
 
Duties: Serve in a leadership role as a member of the County Officers (four elected, two appointed), the Executive Committee, and the Central Committee.  Actively engage Denver Democrats in electing Democratic leaders and supporting core Democratic values and principles.  Work with the Secretary to:
  • heighten the Party’s profile, improve accessibility of information, and generate interest and enthusiasm in engaging in Party activities;
  • help coordinate distribution of Party communications;
  • help document and publicize Party activity both internally and externally;
  • help build a team to stay on top of elected officials in the news, critical issues in play, campaigns and races, service projects, community developments, etc;
  • work in supervisory/advisory role with select standing committees of the Democratic Party of Denver (i.e., Diversity and Outreach, Get Out the Vote, Public Policy, etc.)
  • help gather information and content for weekly newsletter;
  • assist with website supervision;
  • assist with preparing press releases, including working with team members from House Districts, Committees, and Special Projects as they draft releases;
  • help update Party data base and official membership information as necessary; Help establish and maintain media contacts on all levels;
  • and much more!

  • Leadership qualities: ability to articulate Democratic Party goals, to communicate with grass roots activists and elected officials, and to motivate
  • Enthusiasm for reaching out and engaging voters;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Good communications skills;
  • Some web know-how; 
  • Quick-study; flexibility;
  • Good humor.

Commitment: 5-10 hours a week, with unlimited opportunity for more
