In 2008 Betsy defeated one of the most anti-gay members of Congress, Marilyn Musgrave, in a resounding victory. Now, despite representing a conservative-leaning district, she has co-sponsored the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, and recently voted to Repeal the discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law which recently passed the House of Representatives.
Congresswoman Markey has gone on the record saying
everyone deserves full equality protections under the Constitution.
