You won’t want to miss this month’s Breakfast Meeting:

Saturday, January 28th – (8:45 sign-in/social) 9:00 a.m. to 10:45am (Meeting Program)

Calvary Baptist Church, 6500 East Girard Ave, Denver

**  Time to Stock your Election Year Conversational Toolbox…. Or, A Primer on POLITICAL MESSAGING!! **

Why do people vote against their own self-interest?   What causes quick shifts in the political landscape?  What can you do about effective advocating your political stands and ideals?  How can we best speak about President Obama's and Democratic Congressional accomplishments?

Our investigative reporters, Angie and Juliette, have been on the case and they are ready to bring you the answers.

At our January 28th HD Breakfast meeting we will have a fun, informative presentation and brainstorming session on political messaging – framing, values, simplity, believable, and mental pictures.  (Remember the book, "Don't Think of an Elephant," by George S. Lakoff?)

Joe Miklosi and Joyce Foster will talk about what's happening in the 2012 legislative session.

House District 9 is adding a community service component to our actions this year.  This month we will collect non-perishable food items for the Food Bank of the Rockies.   Please bring what you can this Saturday Jan 28.

2012 is going to be a busy year - March 6 caucus, Denver Assembly, Get Out the Vote, Phone Banks, etc.  Please let one of the officers know if you are willing to volunteer.

On Saturday January 28 from 12:30pm to 5:00pm, you are all invited to attend the Mini Re-Organization of the Denver Democrats.  This is an opportunity to re-elect officers related to the  realigned House Districts in Denver, look at proposed rule changes, and get trained for attending the March 6 caucus.  Only PCPs will be able to vote but all are welcome.

Holiday party Success:  Thanks to Kathy and Bernie Steinberg for opening their home to HD9 for our holiday party on December 10.  And thanks to all who brought great dishes and themselves for a great event.

Poinsetta Sales a Success:  John Kimes, Finance Director for HD 9b did a great job in handling the sales of our 2011 fund raiser, bringing in approximately $800 for HD9 while giving our friends and families the benefit of beautiful Poinsettia plants.
